Nonprofits Aligned for Education -  This group, a result of the 2008 Greater Waco Education Summit, was formed to assist local nonprofits in their efforts to increase literacy. The goals are to provide an avenue for organizations to share ideas, support each other, and learn of opportunities to become involved in the educational process. We will meet four times per year and communicate by email, as needed. There is not a formal membership process; all nonprofits are invited to participate. For more information contact Cheryl Allen, Committee Member, cherylallen@wacofoundation.org.  To see the topics covered at their recent meeting click here: Nonprofits Aligned for Education Recent Meeting notes.

One school year is just ending and we are already seeking your help for low-income families for the Fall 2009 school year! In just over two months, we need to secure thousands of school supplies for hundreds of children. Because Mission Waco believes protecting the dignity of the poor is important and letting them pay a portion of the cost is important, we will “sell” the items below that you donate in the summer in our “School Supply Store.” But the good news is they get an 80% discount! For only a fraction of the cost, these parents can purchase required items for their children. And we use all the money they give to buy more supplies. If you are willing to help and also want a “collection box” for your location, just let us know. For more information or to ask for a collection box contact Kathy Wise by email at kwise@missionwaco.org  or Suzanne Kelly by email at Suzanne_Kelly@vanguard.org  or call 254-753-4900.
