  • December 1 thru 2 – “Around the Table” Advent Retreat with Author Sarah Miles and Rev. Paul Fromberg  – Sara Miles was raised an athiest,and lived a life as a writer, surrounded by family and food. One morning, she wandered into St. Gregory of Nyssa Episcopal Church in San Francisco. “I was certainly not interested in becoming a Christian,” she writes. However, as she took part in the Eucharist, eating bread, sipping wine, she left radically transformed. Her book Take This Bread, is a reflection on her transformation, which led her to establish The Food Pantry.  <MORE>

  • December 14 – The Waco-McLennan County Public Health District in partnership with Walgreens Pharmacy and the Extraco Event Center will be holding a FREE flu shot clinic on Wednesday, December 14th from 9 am – 1 pm in the Fine Arts Building of the Extraco Event Center. The clinic is for all non-insured and under-insured people ages 7 and older.It is not too late to get a flu shot. The flu season typically does not peak until February. Now is the time to get vaccinated, before the peak season begins. For more information, contact the Waco-McLennan County Public Health District at (254) 750-5450.

  • December 17 – Fair Trade Items for Sale at Farmer’s Market – As Waco’s largest retailer of Fair Trade items, Christmas sales are brisk in the World Cup Café. But to add to the shopping opportunities and promote the unique role of “fair trade” for the world’s poor, Mission Waco staff and volunteers will be on site with hundreds of items at the new downtown Farmer’s Market (University Parks Drive)from 9:00 – 1:00. So grab a shopping friend and come on down!
