- September 14 – Mission Waco “Box City” sleep out – Join others in the community who are willing to struggle through one evening without the comfort of a bed. Find (and even decorate) your own cardboard box and join us in the soccer field at S. 4th Street and Webster from 8:00pm to 8:00am. Participants are asked to raise $50 for Mission Waco’s work among the homeless. There will be singing, discussion and information provided during the night. Families are welcome. - September 15 – Habitat for Humanity’s Building on Faith. Churches are encouraged to attend the kick-off ceremony at 1:00 p.m. and to participate during the 3-month build, which celebrates Habitat’s Christian foundation and honors its partners in ministry. Volunteers will help Habitat partner Reynalda Medrano build a decent, affordable home at 1908 McKenzie Avenue for herself and her two young children. - September 16 – 21 – Dine Out for No Kid Hungry. This September thousands of restaurants across the country are supporting the No Kid Hungry campaign with creative fundraising promotions. - September 16 – Walk for the Homeless – Join hundreds of folks at 8:00am on Sunday, September 16, for the 1.4 mile educational/prayer walk, beginning at the Meyer Center, 1226 Washington. Anniversary Worship and Meal. 10:45am-Join the church which meets under the Interstate 35/S. 4th Street underpass near Baylor celebrate its 20th year as a congregation which brings “black, white and brown, rich and poor, educated in the streets and the university, all serving the same God, who makes us one.” Larry James, executive director of CitySquare in Dallas, TX, will be the guest speaker. - September 18 thru 21 – “Be the Change” Mission Conference on Baylor Campus. This year’s conference will focus on the idea of vocational stewardship. All college students are invited to participate; all missional ministries are invited to participate in the mission fairs.
